Description
The Astek A34012-PCI expander card has two x4 mini-SAS HD external connectors (SFF- 8644) and eight x4 mini-SAS HD internal connectors (SFF-8643). The internal connections are dedicated to internal drive connections (32 ports) and for SAS Controller connectivity (8 ports). The Astek A34012-PCI 12Gb/s SAS expander card facilitates the transition to 12Gb/s SAS with LSI DataBolt™ Bandwidth Optimizer. DataBolt technology is designed to help facilitate the industry transition to 12Gb/s SAS-enabled systems by allowing users to utilize existing 6Gb/s drives and passive backplanes. The Astek A34012-PCI buffers 6Gb/s data and then transfers it out to the host at 12Gb/s SAS speeds in order to match the bandwidth between faster hosts and legacy SAS or SATA devices. This device supports SAS data transfer rates of 12, 6, 3Gb/s, and SATA data transfer rates of 6 and 3Gb/s.
