The Astek A41612-ENC utilizes state of the art Gen3 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) expanders operating at up to 12Gbps, to provide a light weight compact JBOD with industry leading performance. Based on Astek’s innovative SAS expander board, combined with a precision machined chassis, and a unique 'sled-less' disk mounting mechanism these enclosures can hold sixteen 2.5” hard disks, including Solid State Disks and high-performance SAS hard disks from 6mm to 14mm.
The A41612-ENC makes an ideal storage test enclosure. The configuration between the expander board and storage backplane can be changed by simply reconnecting the SAS internal cables.
The A41612-ENC provides four Mini-SAS HD external SAS x4 wide-port connections, each supporting up to 48Gbps of I/O, active and optical cables and these ports can be combined for up to 96Gbps of total throughput from host(s) to media. Each port can be connected either to a separate host, or they can be used to connection to an external SAS bus expander or another A41612-ENC, allowing system designers to cascade multiple enclosures to further increase the total available storage. The expander also supports DataBoltÔwhich allows bandwidth optimization to support existing 6Gbps SAS and SATA media.
